I do not know if I am advocating polyamory or not. I have had little actual experience and see many possible problems. (Sort of the geometric situation, A and B can relate as A, B, and AB, three individual ways. But add a third and you have A, B, C, AB, AC, BC and ABC, making seven, four goes to fifteen and visions of Fibonacci and Pascal’s triangle go dancing through my head. Actually it is a progression of Mersenne Numbers.)
Anyway, my feeling on the whole Polyamorous issue is, if it works for you, or even if you want to try it out, that is your business and you should have the right to experiment with consenting partners. That is why I am a little disturbed by a Canadian federal law, Section 293 of the Criminal Code of Canada which is now being tested in their courts. As I read it, the law states that if you are consenting adults over two in number, living in a conjugal situation, with or without sexual activity, or “celebrates, assists or is a party to a rite, ceremony, contract or consent that purports to sanction a relationship mentioned”, you is one bad person and are going to jail for up to five years.
Five years in Jail for being a guest at the ceremony? What a hangover!
I like Canada. I have been there a few times and have enjoyed the country and people. But this seems a little extreme. Wait till the people fighting Gay Marriage get a hold of this.
